Fall Fashion to Love

Many girls will tell you that one of her favorite things about Fall are the clothes.  The turn of the season is a standard time to clean out, streamline and purge what you haven’t worn, grown tired of and/or simply needs to go. IMG_8240

And this year many of the trends point to lots of individual interpretation – hooray!  I’m not sure if that translates to wearing your shirt backward or two different shoes, but this fall and winter feel the freedom to relax and have a little fun with fashion.

There are always those classic trends, things that are easy to wear and some that just don’t work no matter how hard you try…like these Fashion Week runway sights:

• Sleeves 8-10 inches longer than your arm (Come on designers – we aren’t playing dress-up!)
• Mini-skirts (I’ll let you decide the best age to stop wearing them.)
• Turtleneck Dickies (even Elle Magazine called them “pointless.”)
• Furry feet (and we are not talking house shoes.)

And here are some things you will love wearing this fall…

The Basics:
PANTSUITS – Such an easy way to dress and this season they are in bold colors with pointed lapels and cropped pants.Pantone-Fall-2015-Colors

HIGHER WAISTS – Some will be ecstatic and some will groan but if you like the style now is the season to add this feature to your wardrobe. The look is super slimming as it’s an exaggerated silhouette that results in the look of long legs and a smaller mid-section.

RED PLAID – Designers are partial to a tartan print and red adds an interesting dose of color to an otherwise classic fabric. Since most of us are guilty of overdoing black in the winter a touch of red plaid is an easy way to brighten the mood.

NEON COLORS – Remember the electric shades that hit their peak in the ’80s? They return this season but in a much more sophisticated way, grounded with neutrals such as gray, navy or camel.

FLOUNCE HEMS – Why wear a pencil skirt when you can wear a skirt with personality?!

CHUNKY KNITS – If you have that occasional, insatiable desire to cuddle up in the biggest sweater possible you are in luck because designers have given us lots of options this season. Just be sure and balance the look with a slimmer silhouette on bottom.

ROMANTIC VICTORIAN – inspiration harkens back centuries for this trend. Think high collars, ruffles, lace and long, flowing skirts…just one piece at a time, please, lest you look like a character from a 19th century novel.

TURTLENECKS – (not the t-neck dickie) Popped up all over the runway. Try layering it under a dress as a quick styling trick to ease warm-weather pieces into your wardrobe.PantoneFall2015Accessories:
THE SKINNY SCARF – The still-strong boho trend gives us this seasons must-have accessory. Worn with everything, the skinny scarf is the one item that can transition easily between all outfit occasions.

GLOVES – Thank you Mrs. Clooney!

STATEMENT EARRINGS – When you want to dash and go just add a big earring and skip the rest of your jewelry.

PATTERNED HOSIERY – Buy a pair or two, or five! From fishnets to graphic patterns this is a simple way to add pizzazz to heavy fall and winter pieces.

STACKED KITTEN HEELS – Yea! Sky high stilettos are not the only way.

TOUCHES OF FUR – Be it on your sleeves, cuffs or collar, quite simply this is a must…
